Unitree B2-W

About this model

The Unitree B2-W is the wheeled build of the B2: 225 mm wheels replace the feet, reaching 50 rad/s and 40 N·m of torque. It measures about 1098 × 550 × 758 mm standing and 950 × 550 × 450 mm prone, weighing around 85 kg with battery. On firm ground it reaches 15 km/h; on a battery above 2 kWh (58 V) it covers roughly 30 km unloaded or 25 km with 40 kg.

It stands under 120 kg and carries more than 40 kg on the move. It climbs 20-25 cm stairs continuously, takes 40 cm edges head-on and climbs past 45°. It works from −20 to 55 °C at IP67. An Intel Core i5 runs the platform and an i7 the user's development; up to three computers are optional, Orin NX included. The films and photographs are the manufacturer's own.

Balancing on two wheels

Rearing onto the rear wheels and riding over a lying log, the legs give the wheels what a chassis alone cannot. Each wheel sits at the end of a fully articulated leg, so the robot adjusts body height and pitch while driving: the chassis lifts over an obstacle that would stop a rigid axle. Switching between driving and walking needs no stop, and the body stays that of the B2, payload mounts included.

Wheels with the balance of legs

The 225 mm wheel reaches 50 rad/s and 40 N·m of torque. With the wheels on fully articulated legs, the robot rears onto two of them and rides over what would stop a four-wheeled chassis, taking edges to 40 cm head-on. Driving and walking alternate without a stop, so road speed costs nothing in terrain capability.

Over rock and water

Wet rocks by a waterfall and a dirt climb, the wheels drive while the legs keep levelling. IP67 keeps water and dust out of the housing, and the −20 to 55 °C envelope covers winter terrain and the heat next to industrial equipment alike. That combination (wheel speed, leg articulation, a sealed body), is why the manufacturer places the B2-W in infrastructure inspection and emergency response, not only in halls.

By the manufacturer's table it covers up to 30 km unloaded and 25 km carrying 40 kg, climbs past 45° and works from −20 to 55 °C at IP67. The battery above 2 kWh at 58 V swaps quickly; an Intel Core i5 and i7 are standard and up to three computers optional, Orin NX for edge ML included.

Down a rocky scree and onto the tarmac: the terrain-to-road transition without a stop, the way emergency use demands. On the road it uses its 15 km/h wheel speed; on the scree the legs take over levelling so the payload stays horizontal. Up to 30 km per charge means a long route is patrolled without a battery change.
